Army integration begins at major cantonments; Sindhuli, Jhapa, Rolpa in line today
The integration process of the former Maoist combatants into Nepal Army began at Shaktikhor in Chitwan, seventh division at Talbandhi, Kailai and Chulachuli in Ilam district on Thursday.
A total of 87 combatants filled up forms for integration till Thursday evening, according to reports.
Integration process is expected to begin in remaining cantonments in Sindhuli, Jhapa, Rolpa, Nawalparasi, Dhangadhi and Surkhet from Friday.
A total of 3,123 former combatants are waiting for integration in Nepal Army from the above cantonments.
Representatives of the Army Integration Special Committee Secretariat, Public Service Commission and Nepal Army are involved in the selection process.
A meeting of the Special Committee held on August 27 had decided to resume the integration on September 6 by recognising the date of birth of the combatants mentioned in their citizenship certificates.
Meanwhile, coordinator of the AISC Secretariat Balananda Sharma said that selection process for the officer-level would start from September 27 from the Central Regional School of Nepal Army at Chainpur of eastern Chitwan.
The integration process had come to a half early July within days after the selection committee started its works in the cantonments. Once the final integration starts, former Maosit combatants would be provided a leave up to 45 days with allowance as per their demand.
The integration is scheduled to complete within a month as per the plan of Nepal Army. nepalnews.com
