Nepal defeated the USA by 32 runs in the ongoing Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 4 held at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday.

Electing to bat first, Nepal scored a respectable total of 258 runs losing eight wickets in 50 overs as Subash Khakurel scored 115 runs, Gyanendra Malla 46 runs, Paras Khadka 41 runs, Anil Kumar Mandal 20 runs and Pradeep Airee contributed 14 runs.

While chasing the target, USA were restricted just to 226 runs in 48.2 overs as Basanta Regmi alone grabbed five wickets while Shakti Gauchan and Sanjam Regmi took two wickets each and Amrit Bhattarai took one wicket for Nepal.

USA’s Sushilkumar Suhas Nadkarni scored highest of 84 runs while Steve J. Massiah scored 41 runs, Timroy Patrick Allen 29 runs, Steven R Taylor 17 runs, Elmore Howard Hutchinson 16 runs and Ryan Gary Corns 12 runs.

Timroy Patrick Allen grabbed two wickets while Ryan Gary Corns, Elmore Howard Hutchinson and Khawaja Usman Shuja took one wicket each for USA.

Nepal have maintained their winning streak throughout the tournament, winning all their four previous matches. They defeated Singapore by five wickets in the opening match, Tanzania by eight wickets in earlier matches. They and handed down a humiliating 10-wicket defeat to Malaysia Thursday.

With the four straight win, Nepal are almost certain to qualify for the Division 3 topping the league’s table with eight points. Now, Nepal will take on Denmark on September 9 at Kinrara Oval. nepalnews.com
