10 hurt in Kanchanpur mishap
At least 10 passengers were hurt, two critically, when a van they were traveling in met with an accident at Jhalari VDC-9 along the East-West Highway in Kanchanpur district on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred when the van (Se 1 Ja 336) heading towards Jhalari from Kailali collided with a tree at Basanta Community Forest. Police said the cause of the accident was driver of the van, Lokraj Bhattarai, 22, who was feeling sleepy and could not concentrate on the road. Bhattarai along with Janki Oda, 60, of Pipaladi VDC is in critical condition.
A team of police personnel aided by locals rescued the injured and they are undergoing treatment at Jhalari based Everest Polyclinic.
Of the injured, seven are Indian nationals from bordering Indian village of Khatima of India while the remaining others are locals.
The injured Indian nationals are Birama Ati, Chhadam Singh, Chhamadevi Bankariya, another Chhadam Singh, Seema Devi, Lala Bahadur Ram and Bhagawan Singh. Nepalnews.com
