Viral epidemic hits Mahottari villages

Epidemic of viral fever has gripped villages in the southern part of Mahottari district.

According to the District Health Office, Mahottari, number of viral fever patients has increased at Bathnaha, Halkhori, Bhataulia, Anakar, Ekdara and Kolhuwa Bagiya VDCs in the district.

Health Worker at the Office, Girendra Jha, told RSS that the number of viral fever patients has increased at different health institutions situated in the VDCs and the District Hospital for the past five days after viral fever took the form of an epidemic.

Health workers said mostly people of Dalit and poor settlements of the VDCs have been suffering from viral fever.The Office said health workers have been deputed at the viral affected areas for treatment.

Medical Superintendent at the District Hospital, Jaleshwor, Dr Dwarika Prasad Saha, said now around 100 viral fever patients visit the hospital every day. Similarly, 60/70 viral fever patients visit health posts and sub-health posts based in Bathnaha, Halkhori, Bhataulia, among other VDCs.

Before this, more than 1,000 viral fever patients of the northern part had returned after the treatment and now there are more than 70 viral fever patients at Bardibas Hospital, according to Acting Chief at the Hospital, Radheshyam Jha. nepalnews.com
