KFC, Pizza Hut resume services

International fast food chain KFC and Pizza Hut located at Durbar Marg and Thapathali in Kathmandu resumed operation from Sunday.

The international food chain started its service after the agreement between the management and labourers on Thursday.

As per the agreement, both the parties have agreed to follow company’s laws and regulation and Nepal’s Act on Labour and Trade Union. Similarly, the management can take action against the labourers if they infringe the company’s rules, as per the agreement.

Devyani International Pvt. Ltd, the owner of the restaurants issuing a notice on August 14, had shut the service citing the manhandling of management staff including human resource officer by some of the workers.

However, All Nepal Hotel and Restaurants Workers' Association, in a statement had claimed that the management announced the closure of the services without even informing the employees.

Devyani International, a subsidiary of India's RJ Corp, in partnership with YUM brands had brought the multinational chain in Nepal for the first time.

It has been operating a total of five outlets including Pizza Hut, KFC and Cream Bell at Durbar Marg and Blue Bird Mall at Thapathali. nepalnews.com
