The meeting of the four major political forces — UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) held at the office of the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) secretariat in Naya Baneshwor Tuesday morning decided to start discussions on the option of fresh election from tomorrow, if they fail to forge consensus on the thorny issues related to the constitution drafting.
Emerging from the meeting, the UCPN (Maoist) spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said they agreed to continue making efforts for consensus till Wednesday and start discussions on fresh election if agreement is not reached by then.
Though the Maoist party has been proposing reinstatement of the dissolved CA, the opposition parties NC and UML have been saying that the reinstatement of the CA for a short period would not help promulgating new constitution until the disputed issues related to the constitution drafting are settled. They have been also stressing that the fresh CA election should be held under consensus government and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai should step down to pave the way for unity government. nepalnews.com
