Nepal Cultural Festival opens in China

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Chinese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Fu Ying jointly inaugurated Nepal Cultural Festival 2012 organised at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing on Sunday.

In his opening remarks, DPM Narayan Kaji Shrestha highlighted that that cultural exchanges programmes like this would contribute in further strengthening the bilateral relations between Nepal and China.

On the occasion, he also gave away the Certificate of Honour to 16 artists both from Nepal and China who have contributed to promoting the culture and tradition. The cultural show was attended by more than four hundred people who comprised of high officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture of PRC.

This is the first ever Cultural Festival being organised by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, China. As the Year 2012 has been declared as the Year of Friendly Exchanges during the visit of Premier Wen Jia Bao to Nepal in January 2012, both countries have been organising different programmes including culture in each other’s country.

Earlier, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Fu met DPM Shrestha at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing and discussed various bilateral and other matters of mutual interest, a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. nepalnews.com
