Govt to introduce dual LPG cylinders
The government is to launch dual liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder in the market from October 17.
The government had planned to enforce the system from August 17, but it was deferred after strong protests from the LPG bottling companies.
The government had formed a committee to address criticism expressed by the bottlers to implement the dual cylinder system.
The Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) said that it was working on procedures on dual LPG cylinder (red cylinders for consumers and blue for commercial users) within few days.
The ministry also claimed that it has already consulted with concerned stakeholders on the enforcement of dual cylinder system.
A seven-member taskforce had been formed led by Nuta Raj Pokhrel, under secretary at the ministry Pokhrel on August 16, to study on the provision for introducing colour coded cylinders.
NOC said it had already issued a public notice to the LPG bottlers to introduce two coloured cylinder from October 1.
However, Nepal LPG Industries Association (NLPGIA) has said the taskforce formed to study the matter was working unilaterally with an intention to enforce dual cylinder system and that the government has once again taken the decision unilaterally. nepalnews.com
