The CPN-UML vice chairperson Bidhya Devi Bhandari Wednesday said party's senior leader KP Oli would be next Prime Minister if the UML is given an opportunity to lead the unity government.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Reporters Club in Kathmandu, she described Oli as an appropriate candidate for the PM's post in the consensus government.

She also ruled out political consensus without Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai's commitment to resign from the post. "PM Bhattarai should step down if he wants consensus among the parties. It is the precondition to forge the consensus," she added.

Bhandari also claimed that President had rights to relieve PM Bhattarai of his duty. "PM Bhattarai has no any moral ground to remain in power. President can remove him as the guardian of the constitution if he (Bhattarai) does not voluntary resign," she said.

She also said that her party was in favour of holding fresh polls instead of reinstating the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA). nepalnews.com
