UML youth wing files complaint at CIAA alleging UCPN (M) of plundering state coffer
The CPN-UML aligned Youth Association Nepal (YAN) Friday filed a complaint at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) accusing the UCPN (Maoist) of misusing Rs 4 billion state fund in the name of combatants.
A delegation of YAN central leaders led by its chairman Mahesh Basnet handed over the complaint to CIAA spokesperson Ishwori Prasad Poudel, claiming that the proofs of misuse were strong enough to initiate a formal probe.
In the case, the YAN said Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who had received the cheques of money allocated to the cantoned combatants, were responsible for massive corruption.
The YAN said that huge amount of money was disbursed in the name of combatants who did not exist and that the money fell in wrong hands.
According to YAN vice chairman Jhapat Rawal, CIAA officials assured that the commission would launch inquiry into the alleged corruption. nepalnews.com
