Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Monday said that he was planning to reduce power outage to 10 hours a day during dry season by importing electricity from India.
During a meeting of Energy Committee at Energy Ministry, PM Bhattarai said there was no alternative to import electricity from India to reduce load shedding as people have to face up to 16 hours load shedding a day during dry season.
Stressing on the need for installation of transmission line in Nepal-India border, he instructed officials at the Energy Ministry to maintain existing transmission line for smooth supply of electricity.
PM Bhattarai also said that he has already talked to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about importing electricity and he was positive towards his proposal.
"Hydropower should be the topmost priority of the government. So we should work out short term and long term plan to reduce power outage," he added. nepalnews.com
