NRNA annual meeting starts in Switzerland

Ambassador of Nepal to Switzerland, Shanker D. Bairagi, inaugurated the 5th annual General Meeting of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) Switzerland amidst a function organized in Geneva Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Bairagi highlighted the important accomplishments of NRNA in its almost a decade long history that include the increased awareness about the activities of NRN around the world.

We should preserve the achievements of the past and look to the future for NRN's enhanced role in the socio-economic development of Nepal, he stressed.

Given that Nepal is poor country with multitude of development aspirations of people, NRN, with its knowledge, skill and increased ability to mobilize resources, can contribute significantly to the country's development process, the Ambassador stated. He highlighted the Government's efforts to create a conductive environment to facilitate NRN's contributions to Nepal including the promulgation of the NRN Act and Regulations, provision of NRN ID and representation of NRN in important high level bodies like the newly constituted Investment Board.

The inaugural event was also addressed by the NRN International Coordination Council Representative from Europe, Kumar Panta, and NRNA ICC Representative from Belgium, Arjun Shrestha. During the Programme, the President of NRNA Switzerland, Dr. Binaya Shresha, presented a report on the Association's activities throughout the year while NRNA ICC Representative from Switzerland, Preetam Gurung, threw some light on how NRNA works as an organization. The Programme was attended by the NRNA members as well as Nepalese living in Switzerland. nepalnews.com
