In a clear proof that he is in no mood to tender his resignation despite pressures from opposition parties, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Wednesday said to hand over the government leadership to Nepali Congress in the present circumstances will be 'suicidal'.

He claimed that if both the President (President Ram Baran Yadav was a former Congress leader who won the presidential race on Congress ticket) and the Prime Minister are from Nepali Congress then the party will postpone elections until the environment is conducive enough for it to win the elections.

"In that scenario, the Constituent Assembly election will not take place until the situation is conducive enough for Congress to win the election. Knowing this, it would only be suicidal to hand over the government leadership to Nepali Congress."

Earlier today, he visited Basantapur Durbar square and told media-persons that inspiration to turn the country into a 'New Nepal' will come only after thorough reading of the Nepali history and learning the inherent lessons from it.

Bhattarai, who visited the Hanumandhoka Durbar and few temples that was newly-opened to the general public and visitors, also said that the government will give priority to conserve as well as promote the rich historical, cultural and archaeological treasures of the country.

The temples opened for viewing by the public and visitors are the Krishna Mahabishnu Temple, the Jagannath Temple, the Bishweshwar Mahadev Temple, the Degu Taleju Temple, the Nil Barahi Temple, the Gorakhnath Baba Pau shrine, the Kalbhairav Temple, the Shree Bishnu Temple, the Hanuman Swetbhairav Temple, the Kotilingeshwar Mahadev Temple, the Thulo Nahgara, the Kaheshwar Mahadev, Saraswati, Nawayoginimai, the Shiva Parvati Temple and the Radhakrishna Temple. These temples were not opened for the public prior this. nepalnews.com
