Govt felicitates athletes with cash prize
The government has awarded the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 winner team members with Rs. 300,000 each and letter of appreciation on Friday.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai handed over the cash reward to the members of the national cricket team amidst a function in Kathmandu.
The winning team consists of cricketers Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Vesawkar, Amrit Bhattarai, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Sanjam Regmi, Rahul Kumar Vishwakarma, Pradeep Airee, Anil Kumar Mandal, Prithu Baskota, Chandra Saud, Binod Das and Subash Khakurel.
The cabinet meeting on September 13 decided to provide the cash reward to the players. The tournament was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently.
Similarly, the government also felicitated Ram Prasad Rimal, Laxman Prasad Rimal, Kushal KC and Chhurrim Sherpa with National Youth Talent Award. Each received Rs. 100,000 and letter of appreciation.
Scientist duo Rimals were honoured for their invention of a siren machine for the security purpose while KC invented solar car. Similarly, Sherpa has contribution in mountaineering sector.
Likewise, boxer Deepak Maharjan, Karate player Ganga Devi Adhikari and Nepal Taekwondo Association were also honoured with National Sports Talent Award. They also received Rs. 100,000 each and letter of appreciation. Nepalnews.com
