Oppn parties' anti-govt stir meaningless: Sujata

Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala Saturday said the agitation planned by the NC-led opposition alliance to force Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to resign was meaningless.

Speaking at a programme in the capital, Koirala said the government should be replaced by reaching political consensus instead of protests. She said ordinary people were not going to support any street protest in the present situation.

Koirala, however, maintained that Bhattarai's premiership must not be given continuity at a time when political and constitutional crisis is deepening.

She also suggested the President to take a "democratic step" to give an outlet to the country. Time has come for him to take an initiation for a unity government because the parties have failed to come together for such a government, Koirala further said. nepalnews.com
