CA revival is necessary even to go to polls: Deuba

Nepali congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba Sunday said the revival of the Constituent Assembly (CA) is necessary even to carry out new election to get fresh mandate of the people.

Addressing the Nepal Press Union gathering in Kathmandu today, NC senior leader Deuba said the reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly still holds significance to go for new polls.

The constitution needs to be amended, and for that the CA needs to be revived.

“If we hold new elections without amending the constitution, the court might refuse to acknowledge polls as has happened in Egypt,” Deuba added.

Deuba also urged the president that he should step in if necessary to resist the wrong moves of the government that is detrimental to the country. Nepalnews.com
