TIMS card fee revised for SAARC tourists
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) have decided to reduce Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) card fee for the tourists from SAARC countries effective from October 14.
The two associations signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect on September 13 with an aim to attract more trekkers from the South Asia region.
As per the new agreement, Free Independent Travelers (FITs) from SAARC region can get TIMS card by paying US$ 6 per trekker while organised trekkers from the region can get TIMS card by paying US$ 3 per trekker. The rates are inclusive of VAT, according to TAAN.
Earlier, FITs and organised trekkers from the SAARC region had to pay US$ 20 and US$ 10 per trekker, respectively.
The government has implemented TIMS cards to ensure safety and security of trekkers and to control illegal trekking operation. Nepalnews.com
