Begnas boat tragedy toll reaches 4

Two among three persons who went missing after a boat capsized in Begnas Lake in Kaski district were found dead by a rescue team on Thursday.

The body of Pushpa Gurung, 28, and Sushma Gurung, 24, were found Thursday afternoon following an intense search operation. However, Prakash Gurung, 28, is still missing and is feared dead.

Two girls aged 3 and 2 - Anuska Gurung and Iveena Gurung – were rescued by people who saw the boat turn over following a heavy rain fall accompanied by thunder on Wednesday afternoon. However, they died while undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital the same day.

All the victims are from Rambazaar of Pokhara-10 and they were in Begnas lake for picnic. It is still not known whether they all belong to the same family, but some of the victims could be related.

Two people who were on the same boat swam to safety. Altogether eight people were on the ill-fated boat. Nepalnews.com
