No compromise on poll date; some demands of dissident parties can be considered: NC
The Nepali Congress has said it is not ready to discuss the postponement of the November 19 elections with the disgruntled political parties, but some of their demands could be considered.
An informal meeting of the central working committee (CWC) held at party president Sushil Koirala's Maharajgunj residence on Saturday concluded that there can be no discussion with the 33-party front and other disgruntled groups on the election date.
However, the party is open to discussion on some of the demands including increasing the proportional seats in the Constituent Assembly, NC leader Arjun Narsingh K.C told reporters after the meeting.
According to him, the 11-point and 25-point agreements between the four major parties could be amended in order to adjust the issues raised by the disgruntled parties.
In the meeting, Koirala also informed the CWC members about his recent India visit, mentioning that India is in favour of the CA elections on the stipulated date. Nepalnews.com
