NHRC again asks govt to provide justice to Adhikari family
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday wrote another letter to the government, asking it to provide justice to the family of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Gorkha, who was killed by the Maoists in captivity during the insurgency.
In the letter, the rights watchdog expressed concern over the government's reaction that it is not in a position to initiate action as it is a conflict-era case. Asking the government to launch investigation into the murder, the commission also asked it to provide compensation to Adhikari family.
Adhikari was killed by the Maoists following his abduction from Chitwan in June 2004. His parents have been carrying out sit-in for months demanding justice.
His father Nanda Prasad and mother Ganga Maya are undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, for the past 13 days after their health deteriorated as the result of their indefinite hunger strike. Nepalnews.com
