Nepal will have yet another Chief Justice PM if election doesn’t happen: NC leader
A leader of Nepali Congress (NC) has said that there is much possibility that the country will have yet another Chief Justice (CJ) Prime Minister like the present one if the Constituent Assembly election doesn’t take place as scheduled on November 19.
The NC leader, Bal Krishna Khand, was of the opinion that because of the very fact that the four parties have agree to amend the 25-point presidential decree, it will take a long time for the reins of power to come back to the political parties if the polls don’t take place on the stipulated date.
Inaugurating the annual general meeting of Rupandehi chapter of Nepal Press Union in Bhairahawa on Monday, Khand conceded that the 25-point presidential decree which paved the way for the formation of a Chief Justice led government was a mistake.
If the polls doesn’t take place as scheduled on November 19, Khand said, then the political parties have themselves made a provision in the constitution that the next person to become CJ after Regmi will also takeover as the country’s de-facto head of government and former administrators and civil servants will be ministers.
The NC leader also termed as "legitimate' the demand of CPN-M including other fringe political parties that the 25-point presidential decree should be scrapped and the leadership of the government should go to no one except political parties, adding that the four major political parties should address this demand.
