HLPC ready to change poll date if Baidya agrees to join polls
The high-level political committee (HLPC) has said it is ready to change the election date if the Mohan Baidya-led alliance of 33 parties agrees to join the polls.
Leaders of the four-party mechanism told the representatives of the 33 parties in Wednesday's formal talks that they were ready to show flexibility on the election date.
"Even as the HLPC is opposed to the idea of changing the election date, it is ready show flexibility if the 33-party front expresses commitment to the elections," UML leader Raghuji Panta who was present in the meeting held at HLPC secretariat, Naya Baneshwor, told reporters. Both sides have agreed to hold another round of talks, he informed.
According to CPN-Maoist secretary Dev Gurung, the 33-party front reiterated that there should be a political understanding on all major agendas including the elections.
However, both sides gave no hint of any meeting point on the major demands such as resignation of Khil Raj Regmi government, scrapping of the 25-point presidential decree and discontinuation of the election process. Nepalnews.com
