EC provides 'window period' for voter registration again
The Election Commission on Thursday provided a 'window period' of seven days from Bhadra 1 to 7, 2070 BS (August 17 to 23) to those who have not yet enrolled as the voters for the upcoming second Constituent Assembly elections.
According to EC sources, the voter registration will not affect the final election date of November 19 and that it will be 'out district registration' as before.
The extensive bio-metric voter registration works had closed on July 15 registering 12.3 million voters in total. The EC aims to distribute computer record-based voter ID cards, a step which is new to Nepal.
Prospective voters can now register in election offices of all 75 districts, but they have to be at least 18 year old before July 15. Nepalnews.com
