Swimmer Gurung claims eight gold with national record in Inter-club Swimming
Swimmer Sirish Gurung of Nepal Police Club on Thursday set a national record along with winning eight gold medals during the First Inter-club Swimming Championship at Satdobato Swimming Complex in Lalitpur.
Gurung, 15, set new record in men’s 200m backstroke finishing at 2 minute 39.06 seconds bettering his previous national record of 2 minutes 43.10 seconds during Second NSA Cup in Kathmandu in October.
On Thursday, he added three more gold medals in 200m freestyle with the timing 2 minutes 24.95 seconds besides the national record, 200m individual medley clocking 2 minute 32.78 second and 100m butterfly at 1 minute 08.10 seconds.
Gurung had won gold medals in 400m freestyle clocking 4 minutes 49.50 seconds, 100m backstroke with the timing of 1 minute 14.03 seconds, 200m butterfly finishing at 2 minutes 39.70 seconds and 100m freestyle at 1 minute 0.69 second on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Dhumbarahi clinched the title of the championship with 214 points while Nepal Army Club secured second spot with 174 points and Lalit Krishna third with 139 points. Nepalnews.com
