Police intervene in Gorkhaland campaigners' movement in Kathmandu
Police have disrupted the movement of Gorkhaland campaigners in front of Indian Embassy in Lainchaur, Kathmandu on Sunday.
The protesters were planning a sit-in protest and peaceful rally before they were disallowed after half an hour of protest.
Nikendra Gurung, a protester, said, they had obtained permission from the local administration to conduct the protest.
"The Chief District Officer told us that we will be allowed to carry out the protests and that he would inform the Hanuman Dhoka police office about the same," Gurung said.
"We think it is the Indian Embassy which actually stopped us today," he said, adding that the peaceful movement for a separate Gorkhaland state in India will continue unabated. Nepalnews.com
