Minor dies in leopard attack in Baitadi
A minor has been killed in a leopard attack at Bishapur of Tallo Swarad in Baitadi district on Sunday.
Dambar Suni, 8, son of Parama Suni of Bishalpur VDC-2 breathed his last after sustaining fatal injuries in the leopard attack while he was sleeping inside his house yesterday night.
Although the Mailoli Area Police Office has already been informed about the incident, locals said police team is yet to reach the site to hunt down the man-eating leopard and give a respite to the villagers from the attacks by the wild animal.
Leopard attacks have so far claimed the lives of 17 people, mostly school-going children and women, in the past several months in four Village Development Committees (VDCs) of the district – Bishalpur, Shivanath, Udaydev and Meloli. People here have been greatly terrorized due to increase in leopard attacks and growing fatalities in their villages, according to reports.
Most of the victims of leopard attack are from the families residing on the banks of the Mahakali River.
Armed police personnel and Nepal Police personnel had been deputed in Tallo Sworad area to ensnare the leopard and kill it many times in the past, but so far the exercise has been futile. nepalnews.com
