School Vice-principal arrested for rape attempt on girl student
Amidst growing instances of male teachers sexually abusing their own students, mostly adolescent girls, guardians on Friday picketed Gongabu-based Florescent Academy in the capital by accusing the Academy's Vice-principal of allegedly trying to rape a girl student studying in class 10 of the same school.
Guardians of students studying in the school including parents of the unidentified girl student staged demonstration in front of the school demanding stringent action against Vice-principal Ramesh Paneru of Florescent Academy.
They have warned that they would enforce an indefinite closure of the school from Sunday onwards if their demands were not met.
Following the complaint by the victim's parents, vice-principal Paneru was arrested and is currently kept under police custody at the Metropolitan Police Office, Maharajgunj.
Vice-principal Paneru had allegedly tried to rape the girl student after summoning her into his office, the victim's parents complained.
Police said they would initiate a case against Paneru after a medical report to determine whether the girl indeed was sexually abused by him arrives on Sunday.
Meanwhile, guardians have demanded compensation for the girl student who was sexually abused and security for other girl students studying in the school. Nepalnews.com
