Ashok Rai’s party not in favour of poll boycott
President of Federal Socialist Party, Ashok Rai said on Saturday that he is not in favour of poll boycott, as he and his party believe in democratic practices and both favour a meaningful election.
“We are not against election. But we want our five-point demands fulfilled before we participate in the polls,” Rai said.
Speaking at a program in Kathmandu, Rai said the four major parties could not provide an outlet to the country and that his party would always work for the betterment of the general people.
“It is essential that under the proportional representation system, women, Dalit, Janajati and marginalized groups be represented adequately,” Rai said, adding that his party is advocating for the same.
Rai’s party is currently holding talks with the government and the High Level Political Committee in a bid to participate in the second Constituent Assembly elections on November 19. Nepalnews.com
