HLPC decides to continue initiatives to bring poll opposing parties into election fray
The High Level Political Committee (HLPC) has decided to give continuity to talks and other initiatives focused on forging consensus with poll opposing parties including CPN-M and create an enabling atmosphere for them to participate in the Constituent Assembly election set for November 19.
A meeting of the four major party led Committee held at the residence of Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala’s at Maharajgunj concluded after reaching a decision to continue talks and discussions with poll opposing parties. Koirala is currently coordinator of HLPC.
The latest political situation of the country and other issues related to upcoming CA election was also discussed during the meeting, said Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Nepal and member of HLPC, Upendra Yadav.
NC President Koirala, Chairman of the UCPN (M), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of the CPN (UML), Jhalanath Khanal and Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Democratic Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, were present in the meeting.
The meeting also called on Nanda Prasad Adhikari and his wife Ganga Maya Adhikari to end their hunger strike which they have been continuing since some time demanding action against Maoist activists involved in the conflict-era murder of their son in Chitwan district. Nepalnews.com
