ANFA pledges apartment, Rs 10,000 pension to each player if they win SAFF Championship
The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday vowed to provide an apartment and Rs 10,000 per month pension to each player, if they win the 8th SAFF Championship that will kick off in Kathmandu this Saturday.
ANFA, the apex governing body of Nepali football, decided to provide the players with such an attractive incentives in order to motivate them, said ANFA president Ganesh Thapa, while addressing a press meet in the capital today.
ANFA further informed that all the preparations have come to an end for the championship.
All participating teams have already arrived in Kathmandu. Nepal has been drawn in Group ‘A’ along with India, Pakistan and Bangladesh while Afghanistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Bhutan are in Group ‘B’.
Earlier on Wednesday, ANFA announced the final 20-member Nepali team for the championship. Nepal´s head coach Jack Stafenowski and assistant coach Richard Orlowski selected the players including five forwards, three goalkeepers and six midfielders and defenders, each.
The goalkeepers include Kiran Chamjong, Ritesh Thapa and Bishal Shrestha while defenders are Sagar Thapa, Biraj Maharajan, Rabin Shretha, Sabindra Shrestha, Sandip Rai and Rohit Chand.
Similarly, Bhola Silwal, Raju Tamang, Bikram Lama, Jagjeet Shrestha, Tanka Basnet and Prakash Budathoki are selected as midfielders.
Likewise, Anil Gurung, Jumanu Rai, Santosh Sahukhala, Bharat Khawas and Bimal Gharti Magar have been named as the forwards for the tournament. nepalnews.com
