Sixth SAARC finance ministers' meeting begins in Colombo
The sixth meeting of SAARC finance ministers and secretaries 2013 has kicked off in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday.
The finance ministers of Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan jointly inaugurated the two-day meeting.
The meeting began with an objective of finding out ways of increasing the long-term capital along with protecting the investment among the South Asian countries.
The meeting is expected to review the progress reports that were committed by the SAARC nations during the fifth meeting in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The meeting will come up with future strategies, too.
The meeting will further discuss about the progress of economic cooperation, poverty alleviation and issues related to double taxation system.
The Nepali delegation is led by Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala and also includes finance secretary Shanta Raj Subedi.
Koirala is set to meet Sri Lankan Presidnet Mahinda Rajapakse during the visit.
The seventh summit of the SAARC financial ministers will be held in Nepal in 2014. nepalnews.com
