Tremor measuring 6 felt in Kathmandu
An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale was felt in Kathmandu late Friday night, with tremors reported in few other parts of the country including Nuwakot and Jiri, National Seismological Centre (NSC) said.
Aftershocks followed the tremor few minutes later. The epicenter of the earthquake was some 80 kilometers north of Jiri, Dolakha, according to NSC.
European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre earlier reported that the epicenter of the quake was Western Xizang province of China, 332 km north of Kathmandu, Nepal.
The tremor was felt at around 11:35 pm in Kathmandu Valley with people reporting "intense shaking" which led to a person reportedly injuring himself after jumping off his house in New Baneshwar in the capital. Nepalnews.com
