UCPN (M) general convention to cost Rs. 80 m
The UCPN (Maoist) has estimated the cost of its seventh general convention starting in Hetauda on Saturday nearly at Rs 80 million.
According to party sources, the exact amount of money required for the general convention is yet to be figured out but it is estimated between Rs 60 million to 80 million. According to him, major chuck of the money will go into the food and publicity.
The party had carried out a nationwide donation drive to raise fund for the general convention. The Maoists are also known to have collected money from government offices with bigger financial transactions.
Meanwhile, the party has completed major preparations for the general convention. Welcome gates have been elected at different points in Hetauda. Party flags and banners are seen almost everywhere in the town.
The organising committee has booked the Hetauda industrial area, hotels, lodges and the guest houses of government offices for the accommodation of the general convention representatives, observers and foreign invitees. While the invitees will be kept in hotels key leaders including chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister and vice chairman Baburam Bhattarai are to stay at the industrial area.
Some 3000 representatives including observers and more than 1000 volunteers are to participate in the general convention which is taking place after a gap of 21 years. Nepalnews.com
