Dekendra murder case: Five accused to remain in detention

The Daikekh district court on Friday ordered the police to keep the five persons accused in the murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa in jail until the final verdict.

Judge Ram Krishna Bhatta gave the order following a hearing. He stated that preliminary evidences produced before the court justified the accusations against them. The bench also ordered the police to arrest the four other accused who are at large.

Following the court order, the five accused - Lachhi Ram Gharti Magar, Nirak Gharti Magar, Hari Lal Pun, Bir Bahadur K.C and Jaya Bahadur Shahi - were sent to the district prison. They were produced before the court during the course of the hearing.

Journalist Thapa was tortured in captivity and buried 'alive' in 2004. The accused are all Maoist cadres. nepalnews.com
