Filmmakers, artistes call off agitation

Agitating filmmakers and artistes have called off their protests after reaching a deal with the Ministry of Information and Communications.

As per the deal, the government has agreed to amend laws related to the film industry to provide it more autonomy after holding talks with stakeholders, within two months. Similarly, it has agreed to appoint office-bearers and chairperson of Film Development and Censor boards from among filmmakers and artistes, who are professional and apolitical.
