FNCCI expresses concern over country's deteriorating security situation following businessman's death

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the country following the murder of businessman Ganga Bishan Rathi of Biratnagar.

Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the apex body of the business community also condoled the death of former chairman of Morang Commerce Association and Nepal-India Friendship Association Rathi following his abduction.

Rathi, who had gone missing since January 11, was found dead in India on Saturday.

The federation also called on the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to guarantee security of Nepali citizens in the border areas. It said that Nepali and Indian security forces need to increase cooperation to check increase in criminal activities along the porous Nepal-India border.

Meanwhile, businesses in Biratnagar closed down their shutters to protest businessman Rathi's murder on Sunday. The closure of the businesses was called by Morang Commerce Association. Nepalnews.com
