NC’s loss in CA election reason behind failure to draft statute: Poudel
Vice Chairperson of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the new constitution could not be drafted because his party lost bitterly in the first Constituent Assembly (CA) election of the country. He further claimed that the country is facing a deepening political crisis following the dissolution of CA without promulgating the constitution.

Inaugurating the NC party office in Pokhara of Kaski district on Monday, Poudel said that the constitution could not be promulgated as the people didn’t trust the democratic Nepali Congress in the CA election and voted for the Maoists instead. Had NC emerged victorious in the CA election, he claimed, constitution would certainly have been written.
Leader Poudel said that although the people of the country favoured the Maoist party over NC in the elections and gave the Maoist party their votes to make it the single largest party in the CA, the same party
(Maoists) betrayed the people and their aspirations at the end.
Saying that the people have finally understood the lies, false promises and nefarious intentions of the UCPN (Maoist) party, he claimed that the nation won’t be misguided by the illusions spread by the party any more.
The NC vice chairman said that the Maoists tried to remain in power by trying to divide the country on the basis of caste and ethnicity, adding that his party NC has adopted federalism in order to return the power to the people. Nepalnews.com |
