Kavre's IT park fails to come into operation even after 17 yrs
The country's first-ever Information and Technology (IT) park based in Kavre district has not yet come into operation even after a desperate wait for 17 years, state-owned news agency RSS reported.
An American company IEBAM had formally taken initiation to operate the park but it pulled out its hand after nine months.
The Government of Nepal had invested tens of millions of rupees for the construction of IT Park in the name of High Level Commission of Information and Technology.
Highly equipped buildings are used for advertising, circus screening and performing different cultural operas, Hari Adhikari, one of the locals of Dhulikhel Shreekhandapur, told RSS.
A highly advanced five storied commercial building, an administrative building, four residential buildings and one security building have been constructed with the area of 235 Ropanis investing Rs 500 million however they are still not in use.
The young generation, which has keen interest in the field of IT, has turned to be pessimistic seeing the sheer negligence to IT sector on part of the government, Madan Thapa, a local, told RSS.
Political instability and untimely changing policy are behind the decrepit condition of the park, said former mayor of Banepa Municipality, Dr. Surendra Bahadur Bade Shrestha.
With the ignorance of government, all resources and infrastructures here have remained idle, locals complain. nepalnews.com
