UCPN (M) general convention concluding today
The ongoing seventh general convention of ruling UCPN (Maoist) at Hetauda Industrial Estate, Makwanpur district is concluding Friday after electing a new party leadership.
Although the party is preparing to announce party’s new working committee today itself, till press time the top leaders were still not been able to decide on the size of the central committee and those who will be in it.
Party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has proposed to retain the former central members of the party to form a 99 member central committee.
However, aspirants wanting to be promoted to central member are insisting that they be also given berths in the party’s central committee. Dahal is scheduled to readout the names of those who will be in the new central committee during today’s closed door session later today.
Meanwhile, there has already been an understanding on the new line of party office bearers as the party leaders were almost unanimous on the issue, it is learnt.
Similarly, during today’s closed door session, party leader Amik Sherchan will present the report of the taskforce formed by the party to look into the property details of the senior party leaders and Posta Bahadur Bogati will present the report of the probe committee formed to investigate into the massive irregularities that took place in the former Maoist combatants’ camps across the country.
On Thursday, participants of the closed-door session unanimously endorsed Dahal's political dossier, which proposes Chief Justice Khilraj Regmi as Prime Minister.
The week-long convention which was scheduled to conclude on Thursday was extended by a day following disagreement among senior party leaders regarding the formation of party’s central committee. Nepalnews.com
