DPM Gachhadar disowns UCPN (M) 'formula'

Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has disowned UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s proposal to appoint the Chief Justice as Prime Minister of a care-taker government.

Speaking at a programme in Biratnagar, Gachhadar, who is also a key figure of the ruling coalition partner – Madhesi Morcha -- said the Maoist party floated the proposal without consulting leaders of the alliance.

The proposal is against the spirit of the constitution and will not help resolve the political crisis, state radio quoted the Minister as saying. The proposal has been floated by the ruling party, not the government, he added.
