Inter-party deal on CA poll within sight, says Prime Minister
Major political forces in the country are close to a deal on holding fresh CA elections, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattrai has said.
As the government announced that election for the Constituent Assembly will be held within May, it is doing its utmost to create an environment for elections, added the Prime Minister. He said he was confident that major parties would reach a deal on holding election within May.
"I can now see light at the end of the dark tunnel that our country is in," said Bhattarai speaking at a programme organised to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the Commission for Investigation of abuse of authority.
"Corruption is a form of social crime that needs to be attacked at the roots. The government has time and again expressed commitment to stick to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption," he added.
Bhattarai's statement comes a few days after former commissioners of the Election Commission said that election was not possible until November. However, the Prime Minister, along with Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar have been reiterating that election is still possible within May. Nepalnews.com
