Govt announces 90 public holidays for 2070 BS

The Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned a list of around 90 public holidays, including Saturdays, for the next Nepali calendar year.

According to the ministry, government offices will remain closed on all of the 52 Saturdays of the year. The other holidays that have been approved include the New Year Day, Ubhauli, Janai Purnima, Gaura Parwa Id-ul-Joha, and Democracy day, among others.
Government offices will close for eight days in Dashain and three days in Tihar.

Holi, also known as Fagu Purnima, will be the last holiday of the year, said the ministry.

Similarly, the government has fixed office hours as 10 am to 5 pm in the summer and 10 am to 4 pm in the winter. On Fridays, government offices will close at 3 pm, it said.
