Following confirmation of avian influenza (bird flu) over 6000 chickens were culled and 950 kg of chicken feed have been destroyed in the farm owned by Subarna Basnet at Napaltar of Manamaiju VDC-1, said Dr Narayan Ghimire, the spokesperson for the Directorate of Animal Health.
The bird flu was also detected at a farm in Nayapati VDC in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Bird flu cases were last reported in Rampur area of Kathmandu in December. Officials had stepped up vigil on poultry farms throughout the Valley following the report. Nepalnews.com
