Bhattarai donates half month's salary for his almost-forgotten 'national volunteer campaign'

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has contributed his half-month salary for the 'national volunteer campaign' that aims to mobilise the youth in development works. He also called for contributions to the government fund that runs the campaign.

"Let's all donate at least a day's income to the New Nepal Building Fund to operate the National Volunteer Campaign. Today I donated my 15 days salary," the Tweeted on Tuesday.

PM Bhattarai had inaugurated the volunteer campaign in April last year. Along with top bureaucrats he had participated in cleaning programmes on the streets of Kathmandu.

The volunteer drive that was once touted as Bhattarai's brainchild lost momentum shortly afterwards with no new programmes launched. Nepalnews.com
