Ruling coalition divided over nuts and bolts of 'election mechanism'
Differences have surfaced in the ruling alliance over the procedure to be adopted to form an 'election mechanism' under Chief Justice Khilraj Regmi.
While almost all coalition partners, who met at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar early on Friday, backed the UCPN (Maoist) proposal, fringe parties in the alliance have expressed dissent over the details. They have accused the four major political forces -- NC, UML, UCPN(M) and Madhesi Morcha -- of trying to concentrate all executive powers within the four political forces.
According to coalition sources, the fringe parties have demanded that small parties should also be represented in a 'political mechanism' that is to provide support to the CJ-led government to hold elections in May. nepalnews.com
