President approves anti-organised crime ordinance
President Ram Baran Yadav has given his seal of approval to an ordinance on fighting organised crime, the President's office said in a statement.
The ordinance has been approved in view of the country's international commitments and our national interests, the Presidents office said.
The ordinance has been approved as per Article 88 (1) of the Interim Constitution, the statement added.
The news comes a few days after the government urged the President to approve the ordinance before February 18, the the day the next FATF Plenary and Working Group Meeting is set to begin in Paris.
Shital Niwas had been shelving almost ordinances presented by the Bhattarai government after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly. It had said it will pass ordinances, which are backed by all political forces. nepalnews.com
