NT, Huawei sign deal for distribution of 5.2 m GSM mobile lines
The Nepal Telecom (NT) has assigned Chinese Huawei Technologies to distribute additional 5.2 million GSM mobile phone lines under "package A".
The agreement to this effect was signed between NT managing director Amar Nath Singh and Huawei’s solution manager Huang Aihua on Thursday, according to a press release issued by NT on Friday.
As per the deal, the Chinese company will supply all the equipments and install the additional 5.2 million mobile phone lines in Eastern, Central, mid-Western and far-Western regions. The project is worth Rs. 3.49 billion.
In June, the Telecom had signed a deal with Huawei for the distribution of 4.8 million lines in Kathmandu valley and Western region under package B at nearly Rs. 6.75 billion.
The NT aims to distribute 10 million mobile phone lines having the capacity - 5 million 2G lines, 4.5 million 3G lines and 500,000 4G service lines under package A and B by 2015. Nepalnews.com |
