Pistorius remanded in custody after court hearing
South Africa’s Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius has rejected a charge that he murdered his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Appearing in court, Pistorius wept as prosecutors vowed to pursue a charge of premeditated murder. But a statement released by his family after the court hearing, says the alleged murder is disputed in the strongest terms.

Medupe Simasiku, NPA spokesman, said, "Well you have heard in court that the case has been postponed until Tuesday and Wednesday. The reason being to give the defence the chance to meet with the accused and to get the information they need to make a bail application. We as the NPA have agreed it is not preferential treatment it is fair to the accused so that he can make his defence like anyway. And we did not appose that. (are you confident of your case) Yes we are confident of our case."
Model Reeva Steenkamp, Oscar’s girlfriend of two months was shot dead in Oscar’s home in this estate near Pretoria on Thursday. She was shot four times in her head and upper body?Forensic experts are continuing to examine the scene. After his court appearance, Oscar was taken to this police station where he will stay until he returns to court.
So Oscar Pistorius will spend the weekend behind bars. He will return here next Tuesday when his bail application will then be heard.
