3rd Microfinance Summit concludes
The Third Microfinance Summit concluded announcing nine points Kathmandu Declaration here in capital on Saturday.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the three-day summit, Finance Minister Barsa Man Pun urged the microfinance companies to extend their services to rural areas to alleviate poverty.
The government has been preparing to introduce Microfinance Information Centre, informed Pun. He also directed the Nepal Rastra Bank to be sensible towards making microfinance sector practical.
The representatives at the event also opined that the taxes raised from the microfinance should be utilised for the development of the sector.
The summit was organised with the slogan ‘Socially Responsible and Sustainable Microfinance’ aiming to discuss the issues of micro finance and disseminate the information about the investment in the micro finance sector, according to the organisers.
The conference was jointly organised by the Centre for Micro Finance Nepal, Nepal Rastra Bank, Micro –Finance Bankers’ Association, Plan Nepal, Poverty Alleviation Fund, RMDC, Save the Children, Small Farmers’ Bank, Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Allevation, among others. Nepalnews.com
