Five die in separate lightning related incidents

Five persons died in separate lightning related incidents in Rupandehi and Makwanpur districts on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Two persons died after being struck by lightning in Rupandehi, on Sunday afternoon.

Police have identified the deceased as Prem Kumari Thapa (42) of Butwal and Prakash Harijan (27) of Maryadapur. Thapa was hit by a bolt while walking on the street while Harijan was hit while working in the field, said police.

Meanwhile, three persons died after being struck by lightning in Makwanpur district the same afternoon.

Makwanpur police said the deceased are Sujan Moktan, Ashamaya Moktan and Anupa Thing of Kankada VDC-5. They all died on the spot. Their age and other details could not be verified. nepalnews.com
